Environmental Policy Statement
In order to demonstrate our commitment to maintaining timber's position as material of first choice in our sector, CP Timber has a written environmental purchasing policy as follows:
Certification and Chain of Custody
CP Timber has accredited Chain of Custody Certification to trade products under the following schemes:
- FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
- PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) which now also covers CSA (Canadian Standards Association), SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) and MTCS (Malaysian Timber Council System) schemes
- BM TRADA “Forest Products” which allows us to maintain a chain of custody for any independant 3rd party legal verification schemes.

Wherever possible, suppliers offering products covered under these recognised schemes will be given preference.
Due Diligence
Any suppliers not selling us products covered by the certification schemes are requested to provide evidence relating to the legality of their supply and we risk rate these as part of our due diligence under the Timber Trade Federation's Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP).
We have successfully passed our first annual audit for the RPP and this puts us in the best position possible to comply in full with the EU TImber Regulation (EUTR) coming into force in March 2013.
Our aim is firstly to reduce the risk of any illegal timber in our supply chain and suppliers showing evidence of activity of their own in moving towards similar aims will find us willing to support them to achieve this. In achieving this aim, we expect that we will also increase the amount of timber that we trade that can also be considered sustainable.
CP Timber aims to provide its customers with the assurance that our products are able to meet both their legal, environmental and technical requirements.
This long term approach will help us to play our part in keeping timber as the most sustainable material available for use in our sector.
